ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The Mineral Springs Project was a full custom home renovation based in Dundas, ON. Our team was responsible for the entirety of the project. From the initial client consultations to the design phase, the construction drawings to material sourcing, furniture selections to staging, Team Graceful executed each phase with detail to ensure seamless transitions. The home is a reflection of thoughtful design strategies and timeless elements to meet the client’s vision.

Project Details

The Hamlet of Mineral Springs has an abundance of history and culture that greatly influenced the overall design. Other influential factors would be the river that runs through the center of the property as well as the variety of plant species that are native to the land. In order to preserve as much of the existing land as possible, the home was built into the side of the escarpment. This allowed the structure to remain a proper distance from the river while protecting the home from potential flooding. A few other design strategies that were implemented would be utilizing large picturesque windows and selecting natural materials to complement the home’s surroundings.

Reducing the home’s energy consumption was an important factor for the design. By taking advantage of the property’s natural privacy, we were able to utilize large custom windows in every room. Not only did this reduce the amount of artificial light needed within the home, it allowed for breath-taking views of the surrounding property. Each room offers an ever-changing view through the seasons, creating a sense of unity between the exterior and interior.
While sourcing materials for the home, it was important to let nature guide the process. This included sourcing a variety of stone, wood, and earthy textiles to complement the properties existing natural palette. This was yet another strategy of reflecting the exterior in, bringing cohesion to the overall design.
