24 Oct Rustic Ranch Project 1
In this home we wanted to achieve a natural, rustic ranch vibe, while still being timeless and beautiful with traditional elements. The home owners wanted the kitchen to be kid friendly and expansive for entertaining guests and large parties, as well as enjoying meals together around the island.
Instead of closing the kitchen in with uppers, we opted for a large window at the kitchen sink to offer beautiful views of the property during all seasons. It allows natural light to flood through the space.
The cabinetry was custom designed in an off-white paint colour with a stain glaze top coat with a gorgeous panel door front that has some hand scraped detailing. The island was designed with roughed-up detailing to enhance the rustic look and feel. It was a win-win balancing both his and her wishes for the kitchen they were both dreaming of. We chose a porcelain backsplash that represents earthy ledgestone but it is more practical for maintenance and cleanability. Also, granite slabs were selected for the countertops, keeping with the traditional and natural concept. In addition to the kitchen and interior design of the home, Melissa designed the floorplans and exterior design for this new build home that is situated on a farm property in Ancaster, Ontario.
A special thank you to our appliance store TA Appliances for featuring this project on their blog and having these photographs taken. (https://taapplianceblog.com/2019/03/01/designer-spotlight-melissa-butter-graceful-living-interiors-design/)
